Introduction:

'Events' in this context are broadly things that need to be 'Booked' and for which we would like you to Register, mainly so that we can keep a check on who is coming, but also if needs be, relieve you of some money!  Additionally though, it enables us to communicate easily with just the group of members who have signed up that Event without troubling everyone else, and finally, it allows us to be able to 'accept' other sailors who wish to join us for a say an Open meeting, or for the Winter or Frostbite Series.

Please note that somewhat frustratingly, we cannot 'Order' the sequence in which the Events below are displayed, so if you cannot see what you are after at first sight, do please ensure you scroll to the bottom of the screen so you have seen them all.

Entry fees and Additional Boat Registration:

We are also using this facility to allow New members to include the correct Entry fee with their Application, and to allow those Members who have more than one boat to register and pay for any other boats they wish to use / store at the Club.

Junior Training is provided free to the Children of Members aged from 7 upwards, provided their Parents confirm that the child can Swim and the Parent accepts they must be at the Club to supervise their Child, as this is not a 'Creche' type facility.

Registration via this facility for the 2012 season is required, as it will enable us to maintain a log of who is attending, and importantly to communicate by email with those involved directly with updates to the Schedule.

Paul Berry will be leading the Training, but any Parent who is able and willing to help will be very welcome.  We are hoping to support a group of the Trainees attending the NSSA regatta week at Weymouth in mid July, and these training sessions will form the basis of eligibility / selection for those wishing to join in.

On a voluntary basis, our more experianced Club Members are happy to guide those over 18 into the basics of sailing over four consecutive Sunday Afternoons.  You will be taught the basics about a boat, how to rig and launch it, the principles of sailing and how to handle a capsize.  We can accomodate about 10 members at a time, and you should try and ensure your diary allows you to complete all 4 Sundays, with 3 as an absolute minimum.  We will stage the series of lessons twice, and then in August and early September we offer 'Supported sailing' when you can continue to practice, either in a Club boat, or your own if you purchased one by then.

It is important to note that this is not an 'acredited' training course, though we follow the basic RYA format, and the training is given in good faith by our members.  We do not charge for the course, but we do ask that you make a real 'effort' to help with the running of the Club, e.g. by doing some extra Duties etc.

We have set up the registration so that you can book one or the other course, and indicated how 'fixed' you are in that choice - the first one is nearly always more popluar, so do please try and indicate the degree to which you can be flexible.  We are not limiting the initial applications, rather we will see how many are interested and go from there.

Finally, everything is of course weather dependent, so if it is deemed to windy for safe sailing, a session may have to be cancelled.

When you join the Club, there is an intitial 'One-off' Entry fee.  From New Members day - May 12th. in 2012 - until the 30th. September this is reduced by approximately half to reflect the fact that part of the Sailing year has already past; this reduction is included in the fiqures shown.

We are initially using this Event to establish how many Juniors and Adults are interested in taking part.  Registering your interest does not - at this stage - in any way commit you, but we will be using this list to communicate information to those registered, as matters develop during April and May.
